EXPEDITIONS URUS (5420M) & ISHINCA (5540M) & TOCLLARAJU (6034M) & CHOPICALQUI (6352M) & ALPAMAYO (5947M) 27 DAYS
These three mountains are located in the Valley of Ishinca, will serve to us like Acclimatization, in order to ascend the mountains Chopicalqui 6352m and the mountain most beautiful of the World Alpamayo 5947mt.
Day 01: Lima: Welcome at the Airport and Transfer to Hotel Lima
Day 02: Travel to Huaraz (3100m) by bus takes 8 hours. Hotel Huaraz
Day 03: Huaraz. Acclimatization day hikes Laguna Churup (4450mt)
By bus Pitec at 3,950m, and Hike Lake at 4,450m, and return to Huaraz.
Day 04: Huaraz / Transfer to Pashpa / Trekking to Ishinca Base Camp (4350mt) Camp
Today we'll take private transport to the mouth of the Ishinca Valley and with the help of burros, travel to our base camp (4350mt) below Urus.
Day 05: Base Camp / Ascend to Urus Summit (5420mt) / Base Camp
Urus Summit Day! Your first alpine start has you leaving camp by 4:00am. Work your way up the steep moraine to the toe of the glacier where you'll put on crampons, harnesses, and rope up. Weave your way to the summit, usually arriving around 10am. Celebrate! Return down to base camp for a well-earned dinner and sleep!
Day 06: Base Camp / Ascend to Ishinca Summit (5540mt) / Base Camp
Ishinca Summit Day! Another Alpine start - 3:00am waking and leaving by4:00am. Ishinca's summit push is about 2 hours longer then Urus'. You'll pick your way through the delicate Andean tundra and gain the glacier around sunrise. Once on the glacier, wind your way through some impressive crevasses and up to the high saddle, then follow a summit ridge to the very top.
Day 07: Free day in Base Camp
Rest day (day hike options).Work on some skills for your Tocllaraju climb at base camp in the afternoon.
Day 08: Base Camp / Ascend to Tocllaraju High Camp (5200mt) Camp
Taking your essentials, you'll leave for the high glacier camp of your final mountain, Toclliaraju. It usually takes 4 hours to reach the camp at 5000 meters. Enjoy an unforgettable dinner while mezmerized by Toclliaraju’s impressive west face.
Day 09: High Camp / Ascend to Tocllaraju Summit (6034mt) / Descend to Base Camp (4350m) Camp
This will be a long day for the climb of Tocllaraju. Easy to moderate glacier terrain leads to the final summit pyramid where we encounter several steep snow and ice pitches up to 60 degrees that may require belaying depending on conditions.
Day 10: Base Camp / Descend through Valley Ishinca / Pashpa / Transfer to Huaraz Hotel Huaraz
We trek out to Collon and then return to Huaraz.Time to relax after the climbing and celebrate.
Day 11: Free day in Huaraz, and Preparations for Chopicalqui Climbing
Day 12: Huaraz / Transfer to Llanganuco / Trekking to Chopicalqui Base Camp (4300mt) Camp
We head out past the beautiful Llanganuco lakes and on to the trailhead where we load our donkeys and ascend to the chopicalqui Base Camp.
Day 13: Chopicalqui Base Camp / Ascent to Chopicalqui Moraine Camp (4900mt) Camp
Continue the approach, arriving to the moraine camp mid-afternoon.
Day 14: Moraine Camp / Ascent to Chopicalqui High Camp (5300mt) Camp
Continue up to the High Camp located at the very foot of the glacier. That night we prepare for the following days summit climb.
Day 15: High Camp / Ascent to Chopicalqui Summit (6354mt) / Descend to Base Camp (4300mt) Camp
Summit day! We wake at 2:00 am and after a light breakfast depart for the summit at 3:00am. Around 8:00am we arrive at the summit and discover why everyone talks about the view! We return to our camp around 2:00pm and continue on back down to the Base Camp.
Day 16: Base Camp / Descent through Llanganuco / Transfer to Huaraz Hotel Huaraz
We trek out to Llanganuco and then return to Huaraz.Time to relax after the climbing and celebrate.
Day 17: Free day in Huaraz, and Preparations for Alpamayo Climbing
Day 18: Huaraz / Transfer to Cashapampa / Trekking to Llamacorral Camp (3750mt) Camp
Drive to our trailhead in the village of Cashapampa (9,000 feet). This 3 hour drive takes us through beautiful farming communities as we head between the spines of the Cordillera Negra and the Cordillera Blanca. After organizing our burros, we hike with day packs to Llama Corral (3750mt), where we camp for the night.
Day 19: Llamacorral / Trekking to Alpamayo Base Camp (4200mt) Camp
A fairly short day, about 3 at 4 hours with day packs. Base camp is made at (4200mt) in a valley at the base of Alpamayo on the opposite side of the route. Base camp is scenic, with greenery, running water and outhouses.
Day 20: Alpamayo Base Camp / Ascend to Alpamayo Moraine Camp (4600mt) Camp
From base camp, the route takes a moraine ridge and crosses rock slabs across the edge of the glacier to reach an area of tent platforms (3 hours). This camping area is very limited and we may opt to climb all the way to Col camp in one day.
Day 21: Moraine Camp / Ascend to Alpamayo High Camp (5300mt) Camp
The route above moraine camp continues over ice and moraine before a 300-metre snow couloir leads to the Col between Alpamayo and nearby Quitaraju (6,040m). This section can sometimes be the most technical and difficult part of the route. After gaining the col, there is a short descent to reach high camp.
Day 22: High Camp / Ascend to Alpamayo Summit (5947mt) / High Camp (5300mt) Camp
Alpamayo Summit Day Depart from camp at 2:00am and head to the steep summit wall, which offers 360 meters of fun technical climbing to the summit. Camp in the high Camp
Day 23: High Camp / Descend to Alpamayo Base Camp (4200mt) Camp
We will descend today, to base camp (4 hours), Where our lunch awaits us and in the afternoon relaxes
Day 24: Reserve or rest day in Alpamayo Base Camp (4200m)
Day 25: Base Camp / Descent through Quebrada Santa Cruz / Cashapampa / Transfer to Huaraz Hotel Huaraz
We trek out to Cashapampa and then return to Huaraz.Time to relax after the climbing and celebrate.
Day 26: Lima: Trip to Lima and Arrive in the Afternoon and Transfer to hotel Lima
Day 27: Lima-Airport: Shopping, and in the Afternoon Transfer to Airport
